Announced at SIGGRAPH 2017, Chaos Group has revealed V-Ray for Unreal, bringing photorealistic ray traced rendering to the popular game engine.
Currently the product is in alpha, with release time to be announced in due course.
The news was announced at the Epic Games User Group meeting by Vlado Koylavoz, Chaos Group’s co-founder and lead developer.
On stage, Christopher Murray of the Unreal Engine Enterprise Team discussed the challenges of working with heavy data, using a Harley Davidson motorcycle as an example. Now, while working in real time artists and designers will be able to get a V-Ray ray traced render straight from Unreal.
V-Ray for Unreal will bring faster workflows as well, with the added ability to produce the highest level of photorealism with ray tracing.
