Magic Butterfly combines two classics, The Magic Flute and Madam Butterfly

You can now experience opera in VR

Welsh National Opera has commissioned REWIND to create a brand new VR installation to launch in Cardiff in July 2017.

‘Magic Butterfly’ is a hybrid of classic operas ‘The Magic Flute’ and ‘Madam Butterfly’ and uses Google Daydream head mounted displays, so that fans can interact with fully re-imagined worlds.

The experiences will be housed inside a shipping container that has been specially designed by Welsh designer Gwyn Eiddior and involves motion capture, animation, music and technology to create a new artistic expression of classical opera.
