Arnold is going subscription only

Following the announcement of Arnold 5, and its inclusion in 3ds Max 2018 over mental ray, Solid Angle has announced Arnold Subscription.

Users will now have the option of subscribing to Arnold annually for £555 / €650 / $600 ($50/month equivalent), or £60 / €70 / $65 monthly.

“We are making this change in an effort to make the power of Arnold available to more artists everywhere. One of the ways of doing this is by providing users with the low-cost flexibility and scalability of subscription licensing,” says Solid Angle in a blogpost announcing the price model.

As well as lower upfront costs and scalability, Solid Angle explains that the benefits of a subscription model include the ability to self-host your license and access Arnold from multiple computers over the internet or other non-local network, access to the latest software and updates, access to prior versions up to three versions back, and global travel rights.

Arnold users have the option of purchasing floating perpetual licenses ($995) until 30 April 2018.

Solid Angle announced that it had joined Autodesk in April 2016.
