ILM has released three featurettes on the making of Warcraft, the film adaptation of video game series Warcraft on the mocap and creation of the orc, horde and crowd simulation, and on the concept and hair.
The videos encompass breakdowns with behind-the-scenes footage combined with interviews with director Duncan Jones, visual effects supervisor Jeff White, animation supervisor Hal Hickel, visual effects art director Christian Alzmann, digital artist Gaelle Morand and more.
“We had some of the largest motion capture volumes ever created, some of them were 300 feet long and we could have nine simultaneous orcs with head capture at the same time. It really enabled us to see the performances on set and make sure that they were captured appropriately,” reveals White.
