IKinema LiveAction revealed at Siggraph

Debuting at Siggraph 2013 this week is IKinema’s new toolset, LiveAction, which allows performance artists to interact with high-resolution CG environments, characters and props in Maya real-time quickly and easily.

The software enables users to add lights, cameras, and animations created in Maya to LiveAction so that directors and artists alike will be able to easily see a performance within a near to final virtual set complete with real-time shadows, as well as be able to have full creative control to details of the scene in Maya as the performance takes place, without the need of any rendering game engine or programming experience.

“Converting assets for virtual production performance capture is currently a tedious process. We aim to stream-line this and make the artist in full control”, said Alexandre Pechev, CEO of IKinema. “Narrowing the gap between performance capture and final production quality is a perfect fit for us”
