3D Artist spoke to MPC Advertising’s head of 3D about the victories

As one of the standout films in VFX from 2016, it’s no surprise that the Jungle Book took home five awards at the VES awards earlier this week. MPC took home two of these awards for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Photo-real Feature and Outstanding Effects Simulations in a Photo-real Feature category for the ‘naturalistic effects’ work in the movie.

Find out how MPC created 54 species and 224 unique animals in our interview with the MPC Assets team.

MPC also took home three awards for its John Lewis Buster the Boxer Christmas advert: for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Commercial, Outstanding Compositing in a Photoreal Commercial and Outstanding Animated Performance in a Commercial

“I couldn’t be any happier!” said Carsten Keller, head of 3D at MPC Advertising, who spoke to 3D Artist about the win. “With VES we haven’t won for a very long time, it’s something that’s very very special for us.

“For young talents coming through the ranks, this an award to look forward to. It’s a major achievement to have – all of our young talent at MPC are completely over the moon! And also senior talent, because we don’t win that award very often.”

Carsten Keller was speaking at The VFX Festival run by Escape Studios. The company teaches students the art of film-making and specifically VFX/animation.
