Ever since its founding in 2000, Digital-Tutors has been at the forefront of 3D teaching, boasting the world’s largest creative training library as well as partnerships with Autodesk, Wacom, Maxom, The Foundry and Pixologic amongst many others. Today, the company makes a big announcement: it has been acquired by Pluralsight, an online leader in dev and IT training. The Digital Tutors team will also now join forces with Pluralsight, enabling both libraries to be available to the members of each site to bring over 3,000 creative, dev, and IT courses to users.
With new resources following the acquisition, says Digital-Tutors, the instructor base for its own courses can also go deeper and wider in creative subjects and software – with plans for new releases to rise to an impressive 8-10 courses per week for creative training. In the next couple of weeks alone, new courses in the pipeline ready for release include working with Maya, UDK, AutoCAD, InDesign, After Effects, Photoshop, Arnold, Mudbox, Revit, Unity, Toon Boom Harmony and more.
Pricing is also changing, with new subscription plans being rolled out to include a $29 per month or $299 per year option for a Basic plan with unlimited viewing, but no project files or offline app. For access to everything, there will be a Plus plan for $49 per month or $499 per year to fully match with Pluralsight’s pricing (this will, however, be kept at the current rates of $45/$399 for one week). “We are thrilled to join Pluralsight,” said Piyush Patel, CEO and founder of Digital-Tutors. “We’ve found a company that’s as passionate about changing lives through online learning as we are, and this opportunity will allow us to continue that mission on a whole new scale. The artists, designers, students and businesses that have relied on us for over 13 years will now have even more resources to meet the high expectations and demands of today’s creative industries.”
